The burpee-to-pull-up involves a jumping pull-up. You can jump as hard as you want, just get your chin over the bar. If you are unable to do a jumping pull-up from the ground you will do the burpee, get up on a box and then do a jumping pull-up.

Thank you Ian, now I can go to bed.
Get some sleep young one.
Ian - don't you mean:
'Get some sleep grasshopper'?
We are kinda like the Shao-Lin Temple huh?
Ian - should you be MODing your workouts so that your time is closer to the "average" times of everyone else or if you can do the prescribed weight is that what you should do no matter what your final time is?
...just not sure if one way is more beneficial than another or gets you to your goals more quickly than the other.
Good question, I'd like to know the answer too.
After trying the Rx weight, and receiving a look of disapproval from Ian - much like the look a son receives from his father after doing something wrong - I MODed down to 75# and did power clean/front squats.
Those Burpee Pull-Ups were beyond brutal.
CathMacMOD:
55 lb squat cleans (next time try 65 cath - but this was good to really get the movement down!)
crawlpees (getting better! step up on some 35 plates.. jumping pullups)
FUN! woot
cept the principle wants to "talk" great.
That was a good one!
MOD: 45 lb squat cleans (I'll do more next time...I chickened out on trying a higher weight - only limitation tonight was in my head).
Great job everyone!!!!!
Thanks Ian, me and the burpee are on slighlty better terms!!
Aside from the "ick" photo factor. I see, ELBOWS up up up!!!
I don't think I moded anything tonight...did I Ian?? I used Rx weight 65lbs, did jumping pull ups and used the 15lb ball...let me know..
You did 65lbs?! Great job Lorie. My bad. The only other thing I wanted to make sure of was that your pull-ups were not a mod. You should be able to stand under the bar with arms at full extension prior to the jump. If you were reaching up to grip the bar and your arms were fairly bent (while you were standing with feet on the floor), it is more like stading on a box or plates and doing a "regular jumping pull-up". And those folks that did that were marked as a mod. Let me know what you think.
Sorry I was not very clear on that. That was poor communication on my part.
wowza LoriE! great work on the weight! you were crusin! woot!
Corene.. way to go with the injury! Steve.. nice quads :)
Oh ya...MOD on the pull-ups too!!! Forgot to put that....
Ian..I am not sure if when I stand under that bar if my arms are bent or not..I know I was jumping up quite a bit, but we will just leave as a MOD...this time! I will get it for sure next time!
Also...I really want to thank you for your help with the lifts before the WOD. I know my lifts need a lot of work and appreciate you taking the time and patience with me!
Mod 45lbs squat clean.
It's good to be back!
Personally, I think Steve must be juicin'
Look at those quads!!!!!!
Steve, lay off the muscle milk.
